Online Courses and How they Work
Creative Techniques - New modular courses from City & Guilds
The suite of Creative Techniques offers qualifications at Levels 1, 2 & 3, and you can take a single Award or a Certificate which consists of four awards (Developing Design Ideas, Sampling Craft Techniques and two Craft Awards.) This offers great flexibility in your learning. An added advantage is that these qualifications fit within the new National Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) allowing you to 'bank' credits towards a Certificate or Diploma.

Here at space2create we have developed a new range of City & Guilds Creative Techniques courses at different levels to be delivered online with full support. This allows you to discuss and develop your ideas and solve any problems you may have with your work. A helping hand when you need it.

The Awards will help you develop a range of skills and ideas and apply them to your work.

The Certificates are similar to the previous Design and Craft Visual Techniques courses and consisting of four awards, they offer a more 'in depth' approach to your learning.

You will be assigned one of our highly qualified and experienced tutors as your personal tutor, and they will lead you through the course and help you with this process.
Throughout the course you will discuss your progress and ideas through email with your tutor, and at the end of each session you will submit your work for assessment with your comments. This is a simple process that your tutor will explain if you need help. The standard of all students work will be monitored by space2create, and all work is subject to External Verification by City & Guilds to ensure that their international standards are maintained.

How long you take to complete the course will depend on the level of the course you are taking and on how much time you devote to it. Students taking an award Level 1 course often take two to six months, while students usually complete a level 2 certificate course in six to twelve months. However you can take up to one year for a level 1 course, and up to three years if you need to for a level 2 course. Please see the Course Fee section below for more information.

City and Guilds is an international awarding body whose qualifications are respected worldwide, and you will be registered with them as a student at the beginning of your course. The Creative Techniques suite of courses give you all the basic design skills, which allow you to develop new and original work within your chosen craft.

To take part in these courses you will need to be online, and have a computer, printer, scanner and a camera. Digital cameras are handy, but you can scan in photos taken with a regular camera. You will also need access to the tools, materials and equipment specified in your specific course details.
